# Maintenance Windows

> Manage scheduled software upgrades on your Last9 clusters

A maintenance window is a repeating window during which automatic maintenance is
permitted.

Maintenance windows give fine-grained control over when Last9 can perform
scheduled software upgrades on your Last9 clusters. For example, you can
prevent maintenance from happening before a critical event or make sure it
happens on your weekdays instead of weekends.

## Configuration

A maintenance window can be configured for each cluster from the cluster's
settings tab.

## Important considerations

- Maintenance windows will be considered for software upgrades, including deployment operations
- The maintenance operation will run for a maximum of an hour
- Critical security patches and bug fixes will be rolled out immediately without waiting for a maintenance window
